Net income in Nordstrom's second quarter that ended July 31 was $146 million, or 66 cents per share, up from $105 million, or 48 cents per share, a year ago - Reuters

Shares of Macy's rose 5.9 percent after the company posted better-than-expected earnings and raised its full-year sales and profit forecasts, helped by inventory management that protected its margins - Reuters
